Gyeongnam Province Supports Private Sector Promotional Activities to Host UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties
Creating Opportunities for Entering a Carbon-Neutral Society through Regional Climate Awareness Transformation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do, together with Jeollanam-do, launched a bid committee in December 2019 to attract the 28th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the southern coastal region of the southern central area.
The southern coastal southern central area plans to hold the 28th UNFCCC COP around the Yeosu Expo site, encompassing six cities and counties in the western part of Gyeongnam and six cities and counties in the eastern part of Jeonnam.
According to Gyeongnam Province, the joint bid for the 28th UNFCCC COP aims to accelerate the transition to a decarbonized socio-economic system to overcome the climate crisis.
Through this, the province will support promotional activities for attracting the 28th UNFCCC COP targeting non-profit private organizations (corporations) in six cities and counties located in the southern coastal southern central area of Gyeongnam to create an opportunity to enter a carbon-neutral society.
The support project will select organizations participating in the public contest by the 21st, and from July until November, when the 26th UNFCCC COP is held, activities such as low-carbon lifestyle campaigns, promotional efforts for the bid, and signature drives will be conducted.
