The opening ceremony was held simply with about 30 attendees, including Mayor Yu Seong-hoon, members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, Seoul city officials, the principal and students of Ancheon Middle School, and local residents, following social distancing guidelines. The event proceeded in the order of ▲ progress report ▲ ribbon cutting ▲ facility tour.
The district installed the 'Geumcheon Hannaegyo' to ensure convenience and safety for local residents and Ancheon Middle School students who had to take a long detour due to disconnections caused by the Anyangcheon Stream and the Gyeongbu Line railway.
Through a design competition, an asymmetrical single-pylon cable-stayed bridge was adopted, symbolizing the ginkgo tree, the emblem of Geumcheon-gu. With its unique design harmonizing with the surrounding landscape, it is expected to become another landmark of Anyangcheon.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon of Geumcheon-gu said, "I am pleased that the pedestrian safety of Ancheon Middle School students and local residents, who used the stepping stones on Anyangcheon Stream that had been pointed out as risky during rain and snowfall, has been secured. The strengthened glass installed on the bridge deck to allow views of the river scenery and the nighttime lighting will make the night view very beautiful, and we expect it to become another attraction."
The elevator installed for accessibility and convenience of movement to the stream will be available for use from June 10 due to the schedule of the final inspection.
