Chungnam, Regional Seafood Products Exported Overseas Worth $6 Million
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province recently held an online and offline seafood export consultation meeting, resulting in on-site contracts worth $6.06 million, the province announced on the 28th.
The consultation meeting was attended by 20 local companies and 15 trading company buyers from 9 countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Czech Republic.
At the event, local companies focused on products such as salted seafood, salt, pen shell, gamtae seaweed, gim seaweed, and processed seafood ready meals (HMR), conducting export consultations worth $10.12 million with overseas buyers.
Prior to the consultation meeting, the province coordinated the consultation matching schedule in advance to enable one-on-one consultations between participating companies and buyers.
Additionally, to help resolve difficulties faced by export companies, free consultation booths with export and FTA experts were operated.
Furthermore, the province plans to conduct follow-up management regarding consultations and contract matters carried out during the consultation meeting.

Jo Won-gap, Director of the Provincial Department of Marine and Fisheries, stated, “The province’s seafood export amount recorded $54.81 million as of the end of April, achieving an increase in export value for 14 consecutive months despite the worsening export conditions due to COVID-19. Going forward, the province will continue efforts to provide step-by-step support tailored to the circumstances and conditions of local seafood export companies and to diversify strategic export items.”
