BTS Wins 3 Categories at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards Pre-Ceremony
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The group BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) won three awards in the pre-ceremony of the '2021 Billboard Music Awards,' one of the three major music award shows in the United States.
The Billboard Music Awards held the pre-ceremony on the 23rd (local time) at 10 a.m. via their official social media channels ahead of the main event.
At the pre-ceremony, winners in 42 categories were announced. BTS won in three categories: 'Top Duo/Group,' 'Top Song Sales Artist,' and 'Top Social Artist.'
In particular, BTS was nominated for 'Top Song Sales Artist' for the first time this year and received the award. Their win in the 'Top Duo/Group' category marks their second time, following 2019. They have won the 'Top Social Artist' award for five consecutive years since their first invitation to the Billboard Music Awards in 2017.
The winner of the 'Top Selling Song' category, for which BTS's "Dynamite" was nominated, will be announced during the live broadcast of the main ceremony starting at 9 a.m. Korean time. BTS is also scheduled to perform their new song "Butter" for the first time at this year's Billboard main event.
