On the 22nd (Korean time), at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA (par 71, 6,445 yards), the second day of the LPGA Tour Pure Silk Championship (total prize money $1.3 million) continued, and she failed to reduce her strokes, placing tied for 5th (4-under 138). Sarah Kemp (Australia) leads (6-under 136), with Jessica Korda and Stacy Lewis (both USA) tied for 2nd (5-under 137), one stroke behind, engaging in a chase.
Starting tied for 2nd, one stroke behind, Kim Se-young exchanged four birdies and four bogeys. After a birdie on the 1st hole (par 4) was offset by a bogey on the 2nd hole (par 3), she seemed to gain momentum with birdies on the 6th and 10th holes. However, consecutive bogeys on the 11th and 12th holes caused a setback, and a birdie on the 15th hole (par 5) was lost to a bogey on the 16th hole (par 4). Her shots faltered, missing the fairway and green five times each. She is two strokes behind the leader, in a position to aim for her first win of the season and 13th career victory.
Kemp posted a 4-under round to take the top of the leaderboard. She debuted in 2008 and has yet to win a tournament. Korda also reduced four strokes, joining the competition for the title. This is her chance for a second win of the season, four months after winning the Diamond Resorts Tournament in January. Shih Wei-ling (Taiwan), who led the previous day, struggled with a 1-over round and dropped to tied 5th. Moriya Jutanugarn (Thailand) is also tied for 5th, while Nelly Korda (USA) and Brooke Henderson (Canada) are tied for 14th (2-under 140).
