Ssangyong C&E "Yeongwol Landfill, No Involvement of Political and Business Figures"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Ssangyong C&E stated that the claim that "a political and business figure is involved" in the waste landfill project being promoted in Yeongwol is completely unfounded false information. They also made it clear that they will take a strong stance, including legal action such as criminal charges, against the spread of unverified facts.
On the 21st, Ssangyong C&E said in a press release that the fund operated by Han & Company is a long-term operation fund composed only of institutional investors, and the claim that political and business figures are involved and using superior positions is completely false. They also denied the suspicion that Han & Company would dispose of shares after the landfill permit.
Han & Company acquired Ssangyong C&E in 2016 and has been striving to secure corporate competitiveness for more than five years by investing more than 200 billion won in various production innovation facilities. This year, starting with the company name change, they plan to continue focused investment to increase corporate value by expanding environmental business, and Ssangyong C&E explained that it is far from a form of realizing short-term high profits and reselling shares.
A Ssangyong C&E official said, "Since Han & Company's acquisition, bold investments such as recycling resource processing facilities and waste heat power generation facilities have greatly improved the company's cost competitiveness and productivity, and corporate value has also risen significantly." He emphasized, "It is an excessive logical leap to consider selling shares immediately due to the landfill permit when long-term investments over five years are beginning to bear fruit one by one."
Regarding the Yeongwol landfill promotion, they reiterated their position to operate safely by preparing safety designs that are significantly strengthened beyond legal standards.
They plan to fundamentally block environmental impact through the construction of a four-layer impermeable facility including concrete slabs and a zero-discharge leachate system, return part of the profits to the local community, and positively influence the local economy through preferential hiring of local talent.
