'On-site Communication Room' Operated at Yeongdeungpo-gu Vaccination Center...Listening to Residents' Voices
On the 6th, a 'Open Communication Room' was opened at the COVID-19 Vaccination Center to serve as an open communication channel for listening to opinions and inconveniences of elderly people who completed vaccination.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Cha Hyun-il) opened an ‘Open On-site Communication Room’ at the COVID-19 vaccination center starting from the 6th of this month to listen to the voices of residents at the vaccination site.
Since April 15, the district has set up a COVID-19 vaccination center in the exhibition hall on the 2nd floor of Yeongdeungpo Art Hall. The center is administering COVID-19 vaccines to elderly residents aged 75 and older (born on or before December 31, 1946).
The total number of vaccine recipients is 26,389. Among them, the district is currently vaccinating 20,350 residents who have consented to the vaccination. On average, about 700 elderly people visit the vaccination center daily to receive their vaccines.
Most elderly visitors to the vaccination center have mobility difficulties due to their age and find it hard to apply for even minor civil complaints. Many are unable to resolve other civil matters because they do not know the application methods or procedures.
Accordingly, the district established the ‘Open On-site Communication Room’ inside the vaccination center with the purpose of closely addressing residents’ inconveniences through active complaint listening and receiving advice based on the elderly’s valuable experience.
The ‘Open On-site Communication Room,’ which opened on the 6th, operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the same hours as the vaccination center. It serves as a communication channel for the elderly, where they can share their inconveniences and opinions related to district development after completing their vaccinations.
Opinions and complaints received through the ‘Open On-site Communication Room’ are centrally managed by the district’s Audit Office. After reviewing the submissions, the Audit Office assigns the relevant departments, which promptly handle the issues and notify the complainants of the results while sharing the information with the Audit Office.
Additionally, follow-up monitoring is conducted to ensure that issues are not treated as one-time matters.
Through the ‘Open On-site Communication Room,’ the district distributes kits containing masks, hand sanitizers, personal quarantine guidelines, and district newsletters to elderly visitors at the vaccination center. This strengthens COVID-19 prevention measures and enhances the satisfaction of elderly residents visiting the center.
Cha Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “The Open On-site Communication Room aims to be a space outside the district office where we can listen to the wisdom and insights of the elderly for district development. We will continue to listen attentively to residents’ opinions and communicate to create a more open Yeongdeungpo.”
