[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) announced on the 3rd that it has completed an IT lecture building equipped with online remote education facilities at the Technical Teacher Training Institute, a leading vocational training institution near Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
KOICA has been establishing a mid- to long-term development plan for the Technical Teacher Training Institute to promote employment and revitalize Nepal's domestic industries, and has been working on strengthening teaching methods and improving the education environment for electricity, electronics, and automotive fields.
As part of its support for technical vocational education, KOICA has invested 5 million USD (5.6 billion KRW) since 2015 to establish this lecture building.
The three-story lecture building consists of seven classrooms accommodating about 200 people, seminar rooms, an information and communication technology classroom, an online education studio, a video conference room, an electronic library, and faculty offices.
At the opening ceremony, Nepalese Prime Minister Sharma Oli said in his congratulatory remarks, "This is an optimal facility that can respond to the increased demand for online education due to COVID-19."
