Nexon Leads Sustainable Growth with 'Untact Work'... Supported by a Flexible Corporate Culture
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Nexon, which has been implementing work-from-home for over a year due to the prolonged spread of COVID-19, is drawing attention with changes in its work environment that align with the 'untact era.'
According to Nexon on the 30th, since starting its first work-from-home in February last year, the company has adjusted the number of work-from-home days according to the trend of COVID-19 spread and has maintained work-from-home for over a year to date. During this period, Nexon has handled major issues such as new game releases and updates while maintaining good performance, which is evaluated to be supported by Nexon's flexible corporate culture.
Since its early founding days, Nexon has maintained efficient communication and decision-making using email, messenger, and online collaboration tools based on a horizontal organizational culture. Upon starting work-from-home, Nexon provided smooth access to internal systems through technical support, as well as convenience and security systems for email, messenger, collaboration tools, video conferencing, and remote control, enabling work to proceed as usual.
Various changes were also made to the existing employee welfare and support. Nexon converted all job training programs such as ‘Programming,’ ‘Game Planning,’ and ‘Game Art’ to online formats starting last year, allowing more employees to benefit from educational opportunities.
They also support non-face-to-face psychological counseling. Nexon has been operating the professional psychological counseling program ‘Naemaeum Ilgi’ since 2017, and from last March, it has supported remote (phone) counseling and video coaching to make it convenient to use even during work-from-home.
Additionally, Nexon has taken steps to support communication and organizational management changes within the organization due to work-from-home. In particular, since May last year, Nexon has operated the untact in-house video content ‘Monthly Nexonin’ to help understanding and communication between departments and job roles, providing opportunities to share key issues, know-how, and difficulties for each role.
Based on these supports, Nexon surpassed 3 trillion KRW in consolidated sales last year and achieved record-high performance, with sales in the Korean region growing nearly 84% compared to the previous year. In February, Nexon announced a wage system upgrade and revealed plans for large-scale recruitment for the first time in three years.
