Car Semiconductor Supply Shortage, Production Cuts at Korea GM Bupyeong Plant 1 and Changwon Plant
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Korea GM, which had halted operations at some plants due to vehicle semiconductor supply disruptions, will continue production cuts even after resuming production next week.
According to Korea GM on the 23rd, Bupyeong Plant 1 and Bupyeong Plant 2, which were closed from the 19th to the 23rd, will resume production from the 26th but plan to operate at a 50% capacity rate.
Additionally, Changwon Plant, which had been operating normally, will also operate at half capacity starting from the 1st of next month.
Korea GM's Bupyeong Plants 1 and 2 produce Trailblazer, Malibu, and Trax, while Changwon Plant produces Spark.

Korea GM was the first domestic automaker to experience production disruptions due to vehicle semiconductor supply shortages and has maintained a 50% operating rate at Bupyeong Plant 2 since February 8.
