[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] To support small business owners struggling with decreased visitors and sales due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to revitalize the weakened local commercial districts, public officials in Hamyang-gun have rolled up their sleeves.
According to the county, the week until the 25th has been designated as the ‘Week for Using Welfare Cards Within the District by Public Officials.’ During this period, welfare points, which can only be used at welfare card affiliated stores for health management and self-development purposes, will be allowed to be used more broadly at local markets, marts, and restaurants within the district.
Additionally, from the beginning of the year, welfare points were allocated to support the local economy by providing mobile Hamyang Love Gift Certificates worth 100,000 KRW per person instead of 50,000 KRW, encouraging the activation of Zero Pay.
Furthermore, to overcome COVID-19, the county paid the first half of the annual leave compensation for employees with 15 or more days of annual leave as of the end of March in Hamyang Love Gift Certificates.
In particular, for the struggling local small business owners, the ‘Market Day’ was resumed on the 22nd.
Market Day is a campaign involving all departments of the county office, encouraging the use of Hamyang Love Gift Certificates at local restaurants and markets during lunchtime, which has been implemented since March last year.
On the first day of the Market Day relaunch on the 22nd, County Governor Seo visited Jirisan Hamyang Market to meet with market merchants and residents, listening to their difficulties and holding a time for communication.
The county promoted the campaign using non-face-to-face methods such as multi-purpose electronic display boards and banner postings rather than large gatherings to comply with COVID-19 prevention guidelines and ensure no negligence in preventing the infectious disease.
