Volvo Cars Korea Joins 'Korea+Sweden Green Transition Alliance'
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Volvo Cars Korea announced on the 22nd that it will participate in the 'Sweden+Korea Green Transition Alliance,' a Swedish public-private cooperation initiative in Korea launched to support Korea's green growth.
The alliance is the first public-private cooperation project involving 13 Swedish companies across transportation and construction, energy, manufacturing, retail, and waste management sectors, together with the Embassy of Sweden in Korea, the Swedish Trade and Invest Council in Korea, and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce.
It was established to support the Korean government's efforts toward a green and carbon-neutral society by 2050 and to propose concrete measures for each industry to achieve this goal.
Going forward, the alliance plans to support the establishment of detailed roadmaps for each industrial sector and continue efforts to create a sustainable culture among employees, consumers, and key value chains.
Volvo Cars explained that as a mobility company, it joined this alliance to continuously explore challenges for green growth. In particular, it emphasized proactive measures taken domestically, including limiting the use of single-use plastics in offices, retail, and brand-hosted events, being the first in the industry to stop diesel sales, and introducing hybrid powertrains across all models.
