[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The government has stepped up quarantine inspections at shopping facilities.
On the 20th, Cheon Young-gil, Director of the Mid-sized Enterprise Policy Division at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, visited Starfield Anseong to review the industry's quarantine management status amid the COVID-19 situation and listen to on-site opinions.
Starfield explained that to prevent COVID-19 infection, it is complying with quarantine rules such as ventilation, disinfection, and mask-wearing, and has strengthened its own quarantine measures including temperature checks for entrants and additional disinfection twice a week by professional quarantine companies. It is also promoting mutual growth support such as rent reductions for tenant companies.
Since the end of last year and the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has been focusing on on-site quarantine practices by implementing daily self-inspections (first stage) by the distribution industry, continuous inspections (second stage) by local governments, and sample inspections (third stage) by the ministry. Since the 15th, the ministry-led sample inspections have been converted into joint public-private inspections (three times a week) composed of the ministry, local governments, and private organizations, implementing the "Ministerial Responsibility System for Quarantine at Distribution Facilities."
