On the 8th, Messages Encouraging Installation of Fire Safety Equipment in Every Home... Minimizing Fire Damage
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 8th, Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin District, participated in the ‘119 Relay Challenge’ encouraging the installation of fire safety equipment in each household to reduce damage to residents caused by fires.
The challenge, which began on November 9 last year to mark the 58th Firefighting Day, is a relay campaign that raises awareness of the importance of fire safety equipment by sharing safety messages along with photos and recommending the next participants.
On this day, Mayor Kim Seon-gap conveyed the safety rules, “For small fires, prepare first; for large fires, evacuate first,” and the message, “1 One fire extinguisher and detector per house and vehicle, 9 Get them ready!” urging everyone to practice and make efforts to prevent fires.
Having been nominated by Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo District, Mayor Kim then nominated Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang District, Park Hyung-tae, Chief of the Male Volunteer Fire Brigade at Gwangjin Fire Station, and Lee In-sook, Chief of the Female Volunteer Fire Brigade, as the next challengers.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “I hope that fire extinguishers and fire detectors will be equipped not only in homes but also in vehicles to prevent damage caused by fires,” and added, “The district will prioritize the safety of residents and build a thorough safety net.”
Meanwhile, the district received a first-grade rating in three categories?fire safety, daily life safety, and infectious diseases?in the ‘Regional Safety Index’ evaluation announced by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last year.
