Exit Poll Results in Seoul Show Over Half of 20s and 30s Support Oh

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] According to the exit poll results from broadcasters on the Seoul mayoral by-election, more than half of voters in their 20s and 30s supported Oh Se-hoon, the candidate from the People Power Party. In the 40s age group, which was classified as the ruling party's 'concrete support base,' Park Young-sun, the candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, was expected to have a slightly higher vote share, but the gap with Oh was only 1 percentage point, showing a very close race.
On the 7th, the three major broadcasters (KBS, MBC, SBS) announced the exit poll results for the Seoul and Busan mayoral by-elections conducted by KEP (Korea Election Pool), a joint prediction survey committee under the Korea Broadcasting Association. The survey was conducted by three research institutions: Ipsos, Korea Research International, and Hankook Research.
In this exit poll, candidate Oh received 59.0% of the vote, winning against Park Young-sun of the Democratic Party of Korea, who received 37.7%.
By age group, Oh was expected to have a higher vote share in all generations except those in their 40s.
Among voters in their 20s, Park received 33.6% and Oh 55.6%. In their 30s, Park received 38.7% and Oh 56.5%, indicating that more than half of voters in their 20s and 30s supported candidate Oh.
In the 60s age group, Oh was predicted to lead significantly with 71.9% compared to Park's 27.2%.
