Professor Kim Taekyung of the Department of Counseling Psychology at Woosuk University stated in an interview on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyunjung's News Show' on the 6th, "It seems unlikely to consider his anger over being refused offline dating after becoming close online as a delusional disorder," explaining this perspective.
Professor Kim cautiously defined the crime as a "serial murder disguised as affection," saying, "It is not a delusion of being in love, but rather they must be in a close relationship, and since the woman rejected him, it is correct to see that he killed her out of anger."
Regarding Kim's disregard for the victim's clear refusal, he said, "When the other person says no, it holds little meaning for them. Their love is often just possessiveness," adding, "The frightening aspect of stalking is that once the perpetrator decides to possess, they struggle to make the target theirs, even if it means killing."
He further interpreted, "In reality, love does not exist for them; only an ugly possessiveness disguised as love exists."
On the killing of other family members, he said, "It appears to be a meticulously planned crime," and suggested, "He likely confirmed through prior reconnaissance that only three women lived in the house." He also considered, "It is possible that while waiting for the eldest daughter, the main target, he killed the younger sister and mother as if removing obstacles or venting frustration."
It was revealed that Kim stayed at the crime scene for three days after the murders, consuming alcohol and food. Regarding this, Professor Kim said, "He may have given up and chosen a sense of accomplishment or victory beside the bodies until he was caught," and cautiously suggested, "He might have spent time next to the corpses fulfilling his own desires."
About Kim's self-harm after the crime, he explained, "There are various purposes for self-harm. Sometimes it is done to calm heightened emotions or to awaken a sense of reality. It is also possible he did it out of excessive excitement in an aroused state."
Regarding the possibility of Kim being a psychopath, he stated, "It clearly appears he has a very limited ability to empathize with others' pain, so it is difficult to rule out the possibility of psychopathy."
He defined this case as "the worst stalking crime" and regarding ways to cope with stalking, he said, "The best option is to seek help from the police, and when rejecting, it may be necessary to be careful not to cause humiliation."
