On the 1st (local time), the UK evening newspaper Evening Standard reported that Burpee Cuddy (18), a resident of Brighton, UK, appeared in court on the 26th of last month (local time) and admitted to charges of negligent homicide regarding her daughter.
In December 2019, Cuddy left her home for six days to attend a party celebrating her 18th birthday. She traveled up to 240 km away from her home to enjoy the party. However, while Cuddy was away, her 20-month-old daughter Aisha was left alone and died.
After returning home, Cuddy found that Aisha was not breathing and reported it to the police. According to the autopsy, Aisha suffered from dehydration and contracted the flu, which ultimately led to her death. The cause of death was ruled as neglect.
Despite confirming her daughter’s death, Cuddy stirred controversy by posting a tweet about selling concert tickets on Twitter. The public raised their voices criticizing Cuddy’s family, holding them responsible as well, but Cuddy’s sister explained on a YouTube channel that “the family was unaware of this matter.”
