[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] A Chinese national in his 30s, who was arrested and indicted for assaulting two security guards after blocking an acquaintance's vehicle at an apartment entrance, was sentenced to a suspended prison term and released.
Judge Jeong Chan-woo of the Criminal Division 1 at Bucheon Branch of Incheon District Court sentenced A (35), a Chinese national and apartment resident, to one year in prison with a two-year suspension and ordered probation for charges including assault and obstruction of business on the 2nd.
The court stated, "The defendant assaulted the security guards while heavily intoxicated and damaged the security office, thereby obstructing security duties," adding, "At the time of the crime, he made disrespectful remarks toward the security guards such as 'I will give you as much money as you want, so get up,' and 'Who are you? Do you need money too?'"
Furthermore, the court explained the sentencing rationale, saying, "The defendant has a history of two prior fines and poses a risk of reoffending," but also considered "his confession, remorse, and settlement with the victims."
Earlier, at the sentencing hearing held on the 12th of last month, the prosecution requested a two-year prison term, stating, "Although the defendant has reached a settlement with the victims, nearby residents still feel fearful."

A punched B multiple times in the abdomen and also struck C in the face while C tried to intervene. Additionally, A verbally abused the security guards, spat at them, and caused a disturbance by hitting the security office window with a chair. Due to A's assault, B suffered rib injuries, and C sustained a nasal bone fracture.
At the time of the incident, A was intoxicated and, while riding in the front passenger seat of an acquaintance's car, tried to enter the apartment through a resident-only entrance. When the security guards blocked the vehicle due to it being unregistered, A committed the assault.
