[Agyeong Poll] 87.9% of Busan Citizens Will Not Change Their Supported Candidate
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] In the Busan mayoral by-election, the intention to continue supporting Park Hyung-jun, the candidate from the People Power Party, was found to be relatively higher compared to Kim Young-choon, the candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea.
According to a public opinion poll conducted by Win-G Korea Consulting on behalf of Asia Economy from October 30 to 31, before the publication ban period, targeting 1,012 voters residing in Busan, 94.9% of Park’s supporters expressed an intention to continue their support, which was relatively higher than the 88.9% of Kim’s supporters.
When asked, "Do you think you will actually vote for the candidate you just chose on the election day?" 87.9% answered "I will continue to support." On the other hand, 9.8% responded "It could change," and 2.3% said "I don't know."
The intention to continue support among those in their 20s was 81.8%, which was relatively lower compared to other age groups. The figures for other age groups were 84.0% for those in their 30s, 86.3% for their 40s, 89.9% for their 50s, 93.8% for their 60s, and 90.7% for those aged 70 and above.

This public opinion poll was conducted via wireless ARS using 100% mobile phone virtual numbers. The sample was extracted with weighted values (cell weighting) by gender, age, and region based on the resident registration population as of the end of January 2021 from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. According to the Public Official Election Act, the publication of poll results is prohibited from the 1st to 7th of the month until 8 p.m., but it is allowed to publish or report the results of surveys conducted until the 31st of the previous month during this period.
