[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] The family of Seok Mo (48), identified as the biological mother of a 3-year-old who died in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, stated, "Seok Mo has a husband and two daughters, all of whom were born through natural childbirth."
On the 13th, Seok Mo's family revealed this in an interview with JoongAng Ilbo, saying, "(The family) has never told the media that Seok Mo gave birth to her children by cesarean section."
The family told JoongAng Ilbo, "Recently, some media outlets reported that 'Seok Mo had two cesarean sections, making natural childbirth impossible,' causing emotional distress to the family."
They added, "Regarding the child's death case, the punishment for wrongdoing must be received, and the entire family believes they are responsible for this incident. However, we ask that baseless reports and rumors stop."
They said, "Seok Mo has been plagued by reckless rumors such as 'she had a lover,' 'she is of Joseonjok ethnicity,' and 'the family conspired,' and that the men who underwent DNA testing were not lovers but people contacted via mobile phone who agreed to the tests."
Earlier, the body of a young girl in a semi-decomposed state was found in a villa in Gumi City last month. However, the exact circumstances of the incident have not been clarified for over a month.
The police initially suspected that the daughter, A (22, detained), gave birth to the baby, raised it, and then abandoned it, but DNA test results revealed that Seok, previously known as the maternal grandmother, was the biological mother of the deceased child. The police are investigating suspicions of baby swapping and the whereabouts of the daughter born to B.
