The county operates a total of three Tree Bank sites, including the existing Hyeongyeong-myeon Poji, and the newly established Mangun-myeon and Cheonggye-myeon Poji last year, managing about 2,200 trees such as crape myrtle, thorn trees, and zelkova trees.
Additionally, the county plans a Future Forest Creation Project that transplants trees from the Tree Bank to each village to create beautiful landscapes with the purpose of generating green spaces.
It is expected that about 1,000 trees, 2 to 3 per village, will be needed, and the county intends to reduce project costs through active collection of donated trees as well as existing Tree Bank trees.
A county official said, “The Tree Bank project is a meaningful initiative that not only saves trees that would otherwise be discarded but also greatly helps reduce project costs. If landscaping trees to be discarded are donated to the Tree Bank through the county office’s Forest and Park Division, we will manage them well and utilize them efficiently.”
