Accuser of Ki Sung-yueng in Sexual Assault Allegation Appears for Investigation: "I Believe in the Power of Truth"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Soccer player Ki Sung-yueng (32, FC Seoul), who faced allegations of sexual violence during elementary school, appeared at the police station to undergo an investigation as he pursues legal action.
On the 31st at 2:48 PM, Ki Sung-yueng spoke to reporters at the Seocho Police Station in Seoul, saying, "I believe in the power of truth," and added, "It may not be easy to prove something that did not happen, but I trust that the investigative authorities will conduct a thorough investigation, and I will sincerely cooperate with the investigation."
Song Sang-yeop, Ki Sung-yueng’s legal representative from the law firm Seopyeong, who accompanied him that day, stated, "The nationwide fraud will be punished," and added, "They just talk without revealing any details about what kind of coercion or threats there were."
Earlier, on the 22nd, Ki Sung-yueng initiated legal action by filing a criminal complaint and a civil lawsuit against those who raised the sexual violence allegations. In a press release, Attorney Song said, "We have filed a complaint to hold C and D criminally responsible for claiming they were sexually assaulted by Ki Sung-yueng, and we have also filed a civil lawsuit seeking 500 million won in damages."
C and D revealed through attorney Park Ji-hoon on the 24th of last month that they were sexually assaulted by seniors A and B, who were part of the soccer club at an elementary school in Jeonnam from January to June 2000, and Ki Sung-yueng was identified as player A.

Ki Sung-yueng’s side maintains his innocence and has urged C and D to disclose evidence of sexual violence. In response, C and D’s side said they would reveal the evidence in court if Ki Sung-yueng files a lawsuit. They also claimed, "We have confirmed that from the moment this incident surfaced until recently, Ki Sung-yueng’s side has mobilized their network in the Suncheon and Gwangyang areas, calling each of Ki Sung-yueng’s alumni one by one to persuade and threaten them to remain silent about this case."
