Hamyang-gun Conducts Health Fitness Measurements and Dementia Screening Tests in Jangsu Village
Health and Fitness Assessments for Residents of Jangsu Villages Including Changwon Village and Oksan Village, Operated by Time-Slot Reservations Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Public Health Center of Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 30th that it will conduct health fitness measurements and dementia screening tests for residents of Changwon Village in Macheon-myeon and Oksan Village in Seosang-myeon, known as longevity villages.
This year, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), it was difficult to coordinate, so the health center staff learned fitness measurement methods and visited the villages directly, conducting the tests while strictly adhering to quarantine rules for residents who had made hourly reservations.
The measurement items included ▲blood pressure and blood sugar measurement ▲body composition test ▲upper and lower limb muscle strength measurement ▲balance ▲flexibility ▲cardiopulmonary endurance ▲coordination to assess the residents' physical age, as well as ▲health lifestyle survey ▲elderly depression scale test ▲dementia screening test, thereby accumulating health data of the longevity village residents and preparing important data to compare before and after the project.
A resident who participated in the health fitness measurement said, “It was difficult because of COVID-19, but the health center's longevity village manager frequently called and taught me exercises I could do alone, so I walked and exercised steadily every day,” adding, “I am very happy to hear that my leg muscle strength has improved compared to last year.”
