Chairperson Choi Young-ae of the Human Rights Commission Participates in the 11th UN Working Group on Ageing Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Choi Young-ae, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, participated remotely on the 29th (local time) in the 11th United Nations Open-ended Working Group on Ageing meeting held at the UN Headquarters in New York, the Human Rights Commission announced.
Chairperson Choi pointed out during the meeting that "existing international human rights mechanisms have not provided sufficient measures to protect the dignity and human rights of the elderly socially and economically, and the difficulties faced by the elderly have been further exacerbated by COVID-19."

Chairperson Choi requested active attention from representatives of governments worldwide and urged the establishment of an intergovernmental agreement to protect the human rights of the elderly, thereby establishing a practical protection system for the elderly.
