[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that, welcoming spring, it simultaneously shipped spring flowers managed at the Jinju City Flower Nursery (located in Jiphyeon-myeon) and planted them in railing flower pots along major roads, flower walls, and large flower pots around the city.
The city created flower paths with railing flower pots along a total 4.1 km section at five locations including Dwibyeori, harmonizing beautifully with the Namgang River.
Additionally, about 240 large flower pots installed in major city areas (City Hall Plaza, Innovation City, etc.) were planted with bright flowers such as pansies and violas, delivering cheerful spring news to the city that had been dormant throughout the winter.
At the city flower nursery, 17 types of flowers including pansies are cultivated annually, with 500,000 plants grown in 22 greenhouses covering 8,243㎡.
To create a cityscape blooming all year round, the city replaces seasonal flowers in various parts of the downtown area five times a year. It also supports major events such as the Nongae Festival, Namgang Lantern Festival, and International Agro-Food Expo, and works tirelessly year-round to supply flowers for beautifying local government offices in towns and townships.
This year’s city flower street creation plan starts with planting 200,000 spring flowers, followed by ▲150,000 summer flowers (petunias, coleus, tuberous begonia, etc.) ▲100,000 autumn flowers (impatiens, salvia, etc.) ▲50,000 winter flowers (flowering cabbage), totaling 500,000 flower seedlings planned for planting.
