Suez Canal Blockage... HMM Followed by Hyundai Glovis Rerouting Around Cape of Good Hope
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] As the recovery work for the container ship accident blocking the Suez Canal in Egypt enters its sixth day with signs of prolongation, Hyundai Glovis has decided to bypass the Cape of Good Hope following the national shipping company HMM.
According to the industry on the 29th, Hyundai Glovis made the final decision to bypass the Cape of Good Hope for irregular vessels traveling between Asia and Europe.
Hyundai Glovis stated that instead of entering the Suez Canal by adjusting the speed of vessels carrying global finished cars, they will go around the Cape of Good Hope.
Currently, vessels operating from the Far East to Europe are expected to call at major European ports such as Koper Port in Slovenia via the Cape of Good Hope. Since they are bypassing the Cape of Good Hope, the sailing period is expected to increase by up to 7 days.
