Jungnang-gu, Sewer Pipeline Maintenance Before the Start of the Rainy Season
By the End of June, a Total of 12.2 Billion Won Invested for Old Sewer Pipeline Maintenance in Myeonmok 4-dong and Junghwa 2-dong Areas... Full Effort to Ensure Smooth Drainage and Prevent Safety Accidents Caused by Sinkholes Through Maintenance Work
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is carrying out sewer pipeline maintenance work to protect residents' lives and property from flood damage before the full rainy season and to resolve inconveniences caused by sewer odor.
The target sites are places causing drainage problems and resident inconveniences due to deteriorated sewer culverts (artificial waterways installed underground) that are over 30 years old and received C to D grades in the detailed safety diagnosis service.
Including the Seoul city budget, a total of 12.2 billion KRW is being invested in this maintenance project. The target sites cover 14,786 meters of sewer pipelines at 16 locations, including the Hope Land Project District in Junghwa 2-dong, areas around Myeonmok 4-dong and Myeonmok 2-dong, the vicinity of Taereung Market, and around Mangwoo-dong Cathedral, with work scheduled to be completed by the end of June.
The district explained that through the sewer pipeline maintenance work, smooth drainage will be ensured, safety accidents caused by road sinkholes will be prevented, and the structural safety of facilities will also be secured.
In addition to the maintenance work, if any resident complaints related to damage to sewer facilities are received, immediate action will be taken after on-site verification.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “This sewer pipeline maintenance project will greatly help protect the safety of residents,” and added, “We will continue to create a safe and pleasant environment through systematic sewer maintenance and management.”
