Pohang City Provides Living Stability Support Fund of 500,000 Won Each to Charter Bus Companies and Workers
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Pohang City announced on the 28th that it has provided emergency livelihood stabilization funds to the charter bus industry, which has been pushed to the brink due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The charter bus industry has suffered significant damage as the spread of COVID-19 led to the cancellation of foreign tourist arrivals, school commutes, various gatherings, and corporate events. Meanwhile, they have been excluded from government disaster relief funds, causing ongoing difficulties.
In consideration of this, Pohang City provided 500,000 KRW per vehicle to transportation companies and 500,000 KRW per transportation worker to companies registered as charter bus operators with their main office or branch office registered in Pohang City.

Shin Gang-su, head of the Public Transportation Division of Pohang City, said, "Although charter buses are also part of the tourism industry, 70% of the companies fall under the public transportation sector such as commuting and school transportation," adding, "We hope this support will help address the blind spots in government aid and prevent the bankruptcy of charter bus companies."
