Yangcheon-gu, 2022 'Resident Participation Budget Proposal Project' Contest... Two Categories for General Residents and Youth Proposals, Total Scale of 2 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) will hold the 2022 'Resident Participatory Budget Proposal Project Contest' from March 29 to May 14.
The Resident Participatory Budget System is a system that realizes direct democracy by allowing residents to directly participate in the budgeting process, propose and decide on projects needed in the community. Since the system began in 2012, the district has discovered and implemented a total of 132 projects proposed by residents, amounting to approximately 10.5 billion KRW.
This year, to further expand residents' opportunities for budget formation and reflect diverse voices, the project scale will be operated with a total budget of 2 billion KRW, an increase of 400 million KRW from the previous year.
The fields for the 2022 resident participatory budget projects are ▲ Resident Proposal Projects (1.8 billion KRW scale) ▲ Youth Proposal Projects (200 million KRW scale).
There are no restrictions on project fields such as environment, health, transportation, culture, welfare, and environment. Anyone who is a resident of Yangcheon-gu or a worker, student, or organization located in Yangcheon-gu can freely apply.
Also, youths aged 9 to 18 residing or studying in Yangcheon-gu can apply for desired projects such as youth experience and volunteer activities, career and learning, welfare, and leisure activities through the 'Youth Proposal Project Contest Application.'
Applications can be submitted via the district office website's 'Resident Participatory Budget' notice, and through the website, in person, mail, email, or fax.
The district will review the proposals received during the contest period through the relevant departments, the Resident Participatory Budget Committee's deliberation, and resident voting to select the final projects. The 2022 resident participatory budget projects will be finalized through the district council's budget review in December.
