Prosecutor Candidate Recommendations by the Public Officials Corruption Investigation Unit Personnel Committee Completed by the Blue House
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) held a personnel committee meeting and completed the recommendation of candidates for ordinary prosecutors to be appointed by the President.
Kim Jin-wook, head of the CIO, stated to reporters on the 26th at the Government Complex Gwacheon after the personnel committee ended, "The list has been sent," and added, "It is going to the Blue House through the Ministry of Personnel Management."
He explained, "I cannot disclose how many were recommended, who they are, or the proportion of those from the prosecution," and added, "All matters related to personnel are confidential."
The authorized number of ordinary prosecutors at the CIO is 19. According to the CIO Act, the personnel committee must recommend up to twice the number of the authorized personnel to the appointing authority, the President.

Having completed the recommendation of ordinary prosecutors, the CIO will continue the recommendation process for four chief prosecutors next week. Interviews will be conducted on the 30th and 31st for 37 candidates who passed the document screening. On the 2nd of next month, the personnel committee will convene to recommend the final candidates to the President.
