The Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters emphasized special caution, including prohibiting entry to areas where hiking trails have been closed and banning unauthorized garbage burning.
This April is expected to have many dry days, with monthly precipitation forecasted to be similar to or lower than the average (77.3~114.9mm), according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
According to fire statistics from the provincial fire headquarters on the 26th, a total of 41 forest fires occurred in the province last year. Among them, April had the highest number with 11 cases.
The main causes were negligence such as arson and using fire near forests, accounting for 8 cases. The main occurrence period was from late March, when seeds are sown, to June (70 cases/41.6%). The main accident type involved frequent accidents caused by safety negligence while driving tillers.

Kim Joil, head of the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, urged, "Care must be taken with unauthorized garbage burning and the use of fire near forests," adding, "Especially during the farming season in April, operating agricultural machinery under the influence of alcohol is prohibited, and thorough maintenance before use is essential."
