Yeongdeungpo-gu to Train Young Big Data Experts
Operation of 'Youth Data Science Big Data Analysis Beginner Course' for Digital Talent Development... Weekly 8-hour classes from April 10 to May 29, Full Tuition Free, Online Registration by April 6... Theory and Practice Combined Including Basic Statistics, Understanding Data Analysis Techniques, and Project Execution
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) will operate the ‘Youth Data Science Big Data Analysis Beginner Course’ from April to foster IT talent in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution and the Korean New Deal comprehensive plan.
Data science, recently spotlighted as a new growth engine in the IT field, refers to the technology that extracts meaningful information and creates new value from various structured and unstructured data.
In preparation for the upcoming 4th Industrial Revolution era and the Korean New Deal comprehensive plan, which focuses on the ‘Digital New Deal’ as a core project, the district plans to strengthen young people’s IT capabilities and lay the foundation for successful employment and entrepreneurship by operating various data science-related education programs, including big data analysis.
This education is hosted by the Korea Management Certification Institute (KMR), a specialized institution for 4th Industrial Revolution education, and will be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from April 10 to May 29, for a total of 7 sessions. The tuition is completely free.
This year, the program will include theoretical education on understanding analysis techniques and planning, practical exercises using Python examples, and an educational achievement evaluation through project execution.
The detailed curriculum consists of ▲ Basics of data analysis and statistics ▲ Understanding data analysis techniques ▲ Application of data analysis and project planning ▲ Project execution ▲ Special lectures and project result presentations.
All courses will be conducted with a combination of theory and practice, and in the latter part of the education, an achievement evaluation on project execution will be conducted. Outstanding students based on the evaluation results will be awarded the ‘Korea Management Certification Institute Director’s Award’.
Youth aged 19 to under 39 with basic knowledge above the introductory level of big data analysis can apply, and applications can be submitted through the Korea Management Certification Institute website by April 6.
A total of 24 youths will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to youths residing in Yeongdeungpo or those who have completed education conducted by Yeongdeungpo-gu.

To prevent the resurgence of COVID-19, all courses including orientation will be conducted online using the ZOOM program.
