Emart Appoints First Female Outside Director to Strengthen ESG Management
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Emart announced on the 24th that it held its regular shareholders' meeting and appointed Yeonmi Kim, Associate Professor at Sungkyunkwan University School of Law, as an outside director serving as an audit committee member. She is the first female outside director since Emart's corporate split, with a term of two years until March 2023.
Outside Director Yeonmi Kim is an expert well-versed in the Capital Markets Act and Commercial Act. She graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in law and completed the law school program at Duke University as well as the doctoral course in law at Seoul National University Graduate School. She passed the 36th Judicial Examination and worked at Kim & Chang Law Firm and as an assistant professor at Hongik University School of Law. She is currently serving as an associate professor at Sungkyunkwan University School of Law.

Regarding the appointment of Outside Director Yeonmi Kim, Emart explained, "The purpose is to reflect diverse perspectives in decision-making in response to the rapidly changing business environment and to strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management."
