KOCCA Transitions to Indirect Support System for Regional Specialized Content
Applications Open for 'Regional Specialized Content Development Support Project' Through 16 Nationwide Hub Institutions
On the 23rd, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced that they will discover competitive local content through the Local Specialized Content Development Support Project. The fields include immersive content, broadcasting, music, animation, characters, comics, and convergent performances. Applications will be accepted through sixteen nationwide base institutions until the 12th of next month.
The support areas are divided into open and designated contests. An official stated, "Since the designated contest tasks and eligible applicants differ by base institution, it is essential to check the announcements of the local base institutions." This is the first time that the Korea Creative Content Agency has designated and operated local base institutions for the Local Specialized Content Development Support Project. The system is shifting to indirect support that allows regions to have discretion and lead the fostering of the content industry.

Last year, sixty-one content companies participated in this project. "Disaster Escape Survival King," produced and supported by the Gyeonggi Content Agency, was regularly scheduled on KBS, and "Sing Street" from the Jeonnam Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency was broadcast successfully on the online video service (OTT) platform Season. The performance "Jinju Fortress: Wings of Light," supported by the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Foundation, was also praised for recreating the history of Jinju Fortress through media facade.
