Gyeongnam Province to Begin COVID-19 Vaccinations for Seniors Aged 65 and Older Starting the 23rd

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongnam Province announced on the 22nd that starting from the 23rd, it will begin administering AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccines to residents or workers aged 65 and older in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities.
The province stated that 27,300 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were supplied to nursing hospitals and public health centers within the province on the same day.
Vaccinations will start on the 23rd for nursing hospitals and on the 30th for nursing facilities.
In nursing hospitals, vaccinations will be administered after an on-site doctor conducts a preliminary examination, while in nursing facilities, public health center vaccination teams will visit the facilities or eligible individuals will visit the public health centers to receive the vaccine.
About 1,400 medical workers treating COVID-19 patients will receive their second dose starting on the 24th, three weeks after their first Pfizer vaccination on the 3rd.
From the 24th, 23,400 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be supplied, and starting from the 1st of next month, vaccinations will be administered sequentially at regional vaccination centers targeting seniors aged 75 and older.
City and county quarantine authorities are currently confirming the consent status of vaccination candidates aged 75 and older.
To facilitate Pfizer vaccinations, the province is operating two vaccination centers (Yangsan Busan National University Hospital and Masan) out of 23 centers in the province, plans to open two more centers (Jinju and Tongyeong) within this month, 16 centers by the 15th of next month, and three centers between May and June.
