"My Name Is Yeoneo"... Large-Scale Name Change Applications for Taiwan's 'Free Sushi' Event

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] In Taiwan, a situation arose where numerous people changed their names to participate in a 'free event' held by the conveyor belt sushi chain Akindo Sushiro.
According to local media, Sushiro announced that on the 17th and 18th, people with names containing the word "salmon (?魚)" would be offered free meals for up to six people.
This led to a surge in name change applications, and by the afternoon of the 18th, a total of 332 people across Taiwan had changed their names. Those who changed their names plan to enjoy the event and then revert to their original names.
One woman even changed her name to "Salmon Donburi (?魚飯)." Another woman changed her name to "Salmon and Bear Paw are Delicious and Passed the First Pharmacist Exam (?魚與熊掌好吃藥師國考一次過)" and posted a verification photo on social media.

The Taiwan Ministry of the Interior stated, "Legally, name changes are allowed only up to three times per person. If you change your name for the event and then change it back to your original name, you will only have one opportunity left to change your name." They urged people to make careful decisions.
