[Photo] Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, Attends Autonomous Shuttle Launch Ceremony at Seoul National University of Science and Technology
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] On the 17th at 2 PM, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the launch ceremony of the autonomous shuttle operation at Seoul National University of Science and Technology.
The event celebrated the first domestic university to operate an autonomous vehicle (Spring Car) on a regular basis. It was organized to discuss the current status of autonomous driving technology and to promote future cooperation between the Electric Information Technology Research Institute of Seoul National University of Science and Technology and Nowon District regarding electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles.
The ceremony, held on the 12th floor of the Techno Cube building at the university, was attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok and President Lee Dong-hoon of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, who delivered congratulatory speeches.
Afterward, following an introduction to domestic autonomous driving technology and its current status, attendees moved to the test drive location to experience a Level 4 autonomous electric vehicle. The autonomous electric vehicle ‘Easy Mile’ ran a route taking about 20 minutes, covering the sections of ‘Techno Cube, Changhak Hall, Bungeobang, Dasan Hall, and Techno Cube’.
In April, a road demonstration of autonomous vehicles is scheduled for approximately 1.2 km from Hwarangdae Station to Nowon Bulbit Garden.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon District said, “Experiencing the autonomous vehicle, which I had only heard about, firsthand makes the technological changes feel tangible,” and added, “The district will do its best to cooperate for the development of next-generation mobility.”
