Seoul City Selects 250,000 Exemplary Local Taxpayers... 8,553 More Than Last Year
145 Exemplary Taxpayers Recommended by District Heads for Revenue Contribution Recognized and Awarded
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 17th that it has selected 249,631 citizens who have paid local taxes in full within the payment deadline without any arrears over the past eight years as exemplary taxpayers of Seoul this year.
Exemplary taxpayers are those who have paid two or more local taxes annually without any arrears, and the number increased by 8,553 compared to last year. The selected "exemplary taxpayers" are granted benefits such as up to a 0.5% reduction in loan interest rates for one year and preferential interest rates on installment savings at city banks (Shinhan and Woori), as well as exemptions from over 20 types of fees and preferential exchange rates.
Among the exemplary taxpayers, 145 meritorious taxpayers separately selected based on recommendations from 25 district offices considering their contributions to the local community and tax revenue will receive additional benefits such as one-year free parking fees at Seoul City public parking lots.
Whether one is selected as an exemplary taxpayer can be checked through the Seoul City tax payment system ETAX website, the tax payment app (STAX), and the Seoul Citizen Card app. It is also indicated on tax bills such as automobile tax and resident tax, and meritorious taxpayers are notified individually.
