[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the 16th, President Moon Jae-in apologized regarding the real estate speculation issue involving current and former employees of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), saying, "I am sorry for causing great concern to the people," and "especially, it has caused great frustration and disappointment to the citizens who live sincerely."
President Moon made these remarks during his opening statement while presiding over the Cabinet meeting at the Blue House that morning, pledging, "We will strictly recognize the corrupt structure in our society and further compose ourselves to act with a heavy sense of responsibility."
He added, "We will start by preventing real estate corruption among public officials and will definitely break the chain of real estate corruption that is widespread throughout society."

President Moon further ordered, "Along with establishing institutional measures to prevent conflicts of interest, public institutions themselves must strengthen their codes of ethics, and firmly build internal control systems such as preventive measures, post-penalty supervision, and monitoring systems."
