Tomorrow Emergency Fine Dust Reduction in the Seoul Metropolitan Area and Chungnam
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] The Ministry of Environment announced on the 14th that it will issue a fine dust (PM2.5) crisis alert at the 'Interest' level from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the 15th in the Seoul metropolitan area including Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province, and the Chungnam region.
Emergency fine dust reduction measures will be implemented when fine dust concentrations on weekdays are forecasted to exceed a certain level continuously.
On the 15th, when the emergency reduction measures are issued, restrictions on the operation of grade 5 vehicles and limits on coal power generation output (restricted to 80%) will be enforced in the metropolitan area. In Incheon and Chungnam regions, 11 out of 34 coal power plants will be shut down, and output limits will be applied to 23 plants.
Vehicles classified as grade 5 emission vehicles are prohibited from operating in the metropolitan area and Chungnam region.
Each city and province, along with the jurisdictional environmental offices, will inspect business sites that emit large amounts of fine dust and expand road water cleaning to remove scattered dust.
