Gangjin-gun Signs Business Agreement with Korail to Revitalize Local Tourism

According to Gangjin-gun on the 12th, on the 11th, a 'Tourism Business Agreement for Revitalizing Local Tourism Amid COVID-19' was signed at the Gangjin-gun Office large conference room with KORAIL Yongsan Station in Seoul (Stationmaster Lim Jong-hyuk) and Gwangju Songjeong Station (Stationmaster Jeon Sam-su).
This agreement ceremony was arranged for Gangjin-gun, which is leading rural life tourism with programs such as 'Living One Week in Gangjin' and 'FUSO (FU-SO) Experience,' establishing itself as the number one destination for emotional travel, to develop railway travel products together with KORAIL to seek mutual growth and to achieve local tourism revitalization and increased resident income in the with-COVID era.
Going forward, Gangjin-gun and KORAIL plan to support transportation and accommodation costs when operating railway travel products, and also provide cultural tourism guides and tourism souvenirs to railway travelers.
Additionally, they agreed to jointly promote Gangjin-gun to attract tourists by utilizing Rail News operated by KORAIL, major stations nationwide, and travel centers.
Gangjin-gun has been proactively responding to the post-COVID era since last year by successfully operating the 'Living One Week in Gangjin' program, as recent tourism trends rapidly shift from large group tours to small individual tours with family, friends, and acquaintances.
The county plans to promote a stay-type tourism complex project including resort hotels, pool villas, and a marine cable car around the Gaudo area by 2024 through attracting about 370 billion KRW in private investment last year, and expects this agreement to serve as a catalyst to revitalize local tourism along with attracting tourists.

Governor Lee Seung-ok said, "Gangjin-gun and KORAIL will develop and utilize tourism products that keep pace with the post-COVID era by leveraging their respective strengths," adding, "I hope this business agreement will be an opportunity to overcome the crisis of the tourism industry stagnated by COVID-19 and provide more advanced tourism products."
