"People-Centered Responsible Investigation" Joint Appointment Ceremony for 165 Newly Appointed Inspectors and Senior Inspectors
Deployment of Investigation Departments Aligned with the Launch of Guksubon
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] A joint commissioning ceremony for 165 individuals, including the 37th class of the Korean National Police University, the 69th class of police officer candidates, and lawyer career competitive recruits, was held on the afternoon of the 12th at the Korean National Police University in Asan, Chungnam.
This commissioning ceremony was conducted under the slogan "People-centered Responsible Investigation." It signifies the appointees' commitment to becoming trustworthy public safety experts as investigative agents protecting the lives and property of the people through investigative structure reform.
In particular, with the launch of the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters (Guksubon) this year, police university and officer candidate appointees will be promptly assigned to frontline investigative departments such as the Economic Crime Investigation Team to enhance investigative capabilities.
The appointees assigned to investigative departments will complete a specialized investigation course (4 weeks) at the Police Investigation Training Institute and are required to work in investigative departments for three years to strengthen their investigative skills. Lawyer career competitive recruits will also complete a 12-week practical investigation course at the Police Investigation Training Institute before being assigned to the Economic Crime Investigation Team.
At the ceremony, a 'Suchi' (a ribboned flag awarded to meritorious organizations) was presented to encourage the National Investigation Headquarters. The Suchi inscribed with "People-centered Responsible Investigation" carries the hope that the public’s aspirations embedded in the reform of the criminal justice system will be faithfully met.
Additionally, the appointees pledged the "Human Rights Police Oath," expressing their ambition to become warm and fair police officers who protect the people's freedom and rights, enforce the law according to conscience, and safeguard socially vulnerable groups, and delivered the pledge document to the Chairperson of the Police Human Rights Committee.
There were many notable new police officers this time as well. Lieutenant Ahn Junho participated in 600 hours of volunteer work while attending the Korean National Police University. Lieutenant Heo Yumin published papers in journals registered with the National Research Foundation of Korea and passed the first stage of the tax accountant exam, moving one step closer to his dream of becoming a corruption crime specialist investigator. Lieutenant Lee Dohang, following his father and younger brother who are currently serving police officers, marked the birth of a three-generation police family. Lieutenant Jung Daun, who served in the 12th Cheonghae Unit deployed to Somali waters during military service, and Inspector Lee Yunhyung, who worked as a 'Legal Home Doctor' providing free legal consultations to vulnerable residents, also embarked on their police careers.
