"Want to See Dolls?" Suspicious Report of Elementary Student Luring in Namyangju... Police Investigating
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The police have launched an investigation after a report was received that a stranger tried to lure an elementary school student and take them to his home in an apartment complex in Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi Province.
According to the police on the 12th, an unidentified man attempted to lure a child who was on their way home from school at around 1 p.m. on the 8th in an apartment complex in Namyangju-si, but the attempt was unsuccessful.
At the time, the man approached the child saying, "I have many pretty dolls at my house, come see them," but a resident who witnessed the scene stopped the man, who then immediately left the area.
The resident reported this to the apartment management office, which then notified the police and informed the school. The school conducted kidnapping prevention education and requested increased police patrols. Parents were also notified of the incident and urged to be cautious.
The police have secured CCTV footage from the scene to identify the suspect and are investigating whether there is any criminal suspicion. A police official stated, "We have taken statements from the victimized child and their parents and will verify whether a crime has been committed based on this."

The police reviewed CCTV footage following the child's route at the time but did not find any suspicious vehicles. After re-confirming with the guardian, the police concluded that the incident was a false report.
