US Participation
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The European Union (EU) has submitted a draft resolution on North Korean human rights to the United Nations Human Rights Council. The United States and Japan participated as co-sponsors, but South Korea was excluded from the list of sponsors.
According to Voice of America (VOA) on the 11th (local time), Portugal submitted the draft resolution on behalf of the European Union regarding the human rights situation in North Korea.
The draft resolution prepared by the European Union includes 43 countries such as the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Australia as co-sponsors, but South Korea was not included among the co-sponsors.
The draft resolution strongly condemns the institutional, widespread, and serious human rights violations in North Korea and recalls all North Korean human rights resolutions adopted so far by the UN Human Rights Council and the UN General Assembly, urging their implementation.
