Recruitment for Participants in Gangnam-gu 'Traditional Jang Academy'
First-come, first-served registration until the 12th; programs run from March to November at health centers and Motgol Hanok Children's Library... '4th Year Booklet Published'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) is recruiting 100 participants on a first-come, first-served basis until the 12th for the 'Traditional Jang Academy,' where residents can make doenjang, ganjang, and gochujang themselves.
This project, aimed at promoting the excellence of Korea's traditional foods that help boost immunity and spreading awareness of healthy eating, will run until November.
The academy is conducted by the Korea Fermented Jang Promotion Association, master Jo Sook-ja from the community, and the resident community 'Sejayul Doenjang Mom' at Gangnam-gu Public Health Center (688 Seolleung-ro) and Motgol Hanok Children's Library (3 Jagok-ro 7-gil), respectively.
The academy consists of practical and theoretical education.

The district will issue certificates of completion to all graduates and plans to offer opportunities as local health activists.

Yang Oh-seung, head of the health center, said, “To commemorate the 4th year of the Traditional Jang Academy, which has been held annually since 2018, we plan to publish a booklet,” adding, “We hope to share stories about healthy eating habits and fermented foods with more residents.”
