Gwangju Seo-gu Establishes 'Innovative Process' for Permits and Approvals
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Daeseok) has established an innovative process related to permits and approvals.
On the 10th, Seo-gu announced that it has prepared improvement measures focusing on thoroughly reorganizing the existing work methods, securing professionalism in work processing, and enhancing interdepartmental collaboration to improve the convenience of permit and approval applicants and increase administrative efficiency.
To this end, a permit and approval collaboration TF team (led by the Director of the Safety and Urban Bureau) was formed under the supervision of the Planning Office.
Until now, Seo-gu has been providing citizen-centered administrative services by handling over 60 types of permits and approvals across 10 departments, going through consultation procedures with more than 80 related institutions and departments, setting its own shortened processing periods, and operating specialized counselors for complex civil complaints.
However, to achieve better citizen satisfaction, Seo-gu conducted a self-assessment and has been promoting the establishment of an innovative permit and approval process based on a total of nine improvement items.
The main improvements include expanding the scope of operation of specialized counselors for complex civil complaints to provide general consultation on permits and approvals.
Supplementary measures aim to complete reviews within one day to implement a one-stop service and shorten processing times, and to secure expertise by considering designating permit and approval officers as position specialists.
Additionally, notification services will be provided at each progress stage so that applicants can be timely informed of the status.
Accordingly, the processing period for permits and approvals is expected to be reduced to one-third, and since applicants can check the progress at each stage, the inconvenience of making phone inquiries to multiple departments is expected to decrease.
