[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced that it has officially launched the “Hamyang-gun Youth Residential Platform” project to support urban youth returning to rural areas and provide short-term stay spaces, as part of the Rural Utopia Leading Project for urban-rural coexistence.
According to the county, on the morning of the 10th, a business agreement was signed in the county governor’s office for the construction and operation of facilities, attended by Seo Chun-soo, Governor of Hamyang-gun, Ha Seung-ho, Head of the Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Jeong Bo-ju, Chairman of the Gyeongnam Social Innovation Network, and Park Young-tae, Director of the Gyeongnam Village Public Recruitment Support Center.
The Youth Residence Platform project aims to provide short-term living spaces and rural life experience spaces for returnees to farming and rural areas, youth, and others. During their stay, residents will understand rural areas and acquire related skills such as entrepreneurship and farming, encouraging permanent and stable settlement through an adaptation period to rural life.
This project was selected last year through LH’s application to the Rural Cooperation Fund Project of the Foundation for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Cooperation between Large and Small Enterprises. With a support fund of 750 million KRW, it is being constructed on a site adjacent to rental housing in Seoha-myeon, the field site of the Rural Utopia Leading Project. It will include two startup support facilities, one energy-efficient residence for stays, and one advanced farm cube, with completion targeted for June this year.
To ensure smooth facility construction, operation, and management, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Social Innovation Network, Gyeongnam Village Community Support Center, and LH signed an agreement together on this day.
According to the agreement, each organization promised to jointly work on capacity building and incubating so that the constructed facilities can be utilized as a hub space supporting youth migration and settlement in rural areas, as well as entrepreneurship and job creation activities based on the local community.
