After 11 Months, Kim Eui-gyeom Takes Full Initiative, First Move Supports Kim Jin-ae "Muryangmubyeon"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] "If the unification of the ruling party is the size of a barrel, then the unification of the opposition parties might be smaller than a beer glass."
Kim Eui-gyeom, former Blue House spokesperson who succeeded the proportional representation seat of Kim Jin-ae, the Open Democratic Party's Seoul mayoral candidate, evaluated this way on Facebook on the 10th, saying, "Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate, and Ahn Cheol-soo, the People Party candidate, have started unification negotiations. But it is still a tug-of-war and a psychological battle."
This is the first time since the general election last April that former spokesperson Kim has publicly made a political statement.
While criticizing the opposition candidates like this, former spokesperson Kim also actively supported candidate Kim Jin-ae internally.
In last year's general election, former spokesperson Kim was placed 4th on the Open Democratic Party's proportional representation list, but only the first three?Kim Jin-ae, Kang Min-jung, and Choi Kang-wook?were able to receive parliamentary badges, so he did not enter the National Assembly. However, when candidate Kim, who ran for Seoul mayor, took the bold step of resigning from the National Assembly, former spokesperson Kim succeeded to the parliamentary seat.
After about 11 months since the general election in April last year, former spokesperson Kim began his public political activities by supporting candidate Kim.
Former spokesperson Kim mentioned 'Muryangmubeon (無量無邊)', saying, "When something is immeasurable and endlessly vast, we use a different expression."
He then praised candidate Kim, saying, "Watching the unification negotiation process with candidate Park Young-sun, I have not yet been able to touch the frame of the barrel called Kim Jin-ae."
Former spokesperson Kim devoted most of his message to candidate Kim's 'large barrel.' In particular, regarding the unification method with candidate Park, which decided to reflect the results of public opinion polls and the two parties' member surveys in a '5 to 5' ratio, he emphasized that although it was an 'unreasonable choice,' it was possible because it was candidate Kim. He explained, "The number of party members paying dues in Seoul is about 150,000 for the Democratic Party and about 3,000 for the Open Democratic Party, a 50-fold difference, so theoretically it is a game lost '100 to 2,'" yet candidate Kim was the one who first unexpectedly extended the hand. He also mentioned the anecdote that candidate Kim rejected the proposal to split the cost burden according to the member ratio and instead agreed to split it evenly.

Former spokesperson Kim said, "Considering that candidate registration is on the 18th and 19th, the unification between Kim Jin-ae and Park Young-sun and the unification between Oh Se-hoon and Ahn Cheol-soo will proceed without much time difference," adding, "Not only the difference of 'female vs. female' and 'male vs. male,' but also the difference in boldness and skill will be worth watching."
