The Corruption Investigation Office Transfers to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office the Case of 'Former Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook's Perjury Coaching' Accusation
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (Gongsoocheo) announced on the 7th that it has transferred the case of witness tampering involving the prosecution team allegedly coercing false testimony from inmates during the investigation of former Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook's violation of the Political Funds Act to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
On the same day, Gongsoocheo explained that it had recently received complaints against two prosecutors suspected in this case and handed over the case to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the 5th. Considering the suspects, the nature and scale of the case, and the imminent expiration of the statute of limitations, it was deemed appropriate for the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to handle the investigation and prosecution.
