Next Week, First Trial of Ministry of Industry Official in 'Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant' Allegations... Audience Limited to 20 People
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] The first trial for Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy officials indicted in connection with the 'alleged manipulation of the economic feasibility evaluation of Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1' will be held next Tuesday (the 9th).
The court decided to limit the number of spectators to 20 considering the COVID-19 situation.
According to the Daejeon District Court on the 5th, the Criminal Division 11 (Chief Judge Park Heon-haeng) will hold the first pretrial hearing at 2 p.m. on the 9th in courtroom 316 for three Ministry officials, including Director-level A (53), who were indicted on charges of damaging official electronic records, violating the Board of Audit and Inspection Act, and trespassing.
The Daejeon District Court set the number of spectators at 20 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Although courtroom 316 has 30 seats, this measure was taken to ease indoor density and maintain appropriate distance between spectators in accordance with social distancing level 1.5.
Admission tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis after identity verification starting at 1 p.m. on the trial day at the distribution point in front of courtroom 316.
Two of the defendants, including A, are accused of ordering or tacitly allowing the deletion of data related to Wolsong Unit 1 around November 2019, just before the Board of Audit and Inspection requested the submission of materials.
